Something old, something new, something borrowed,
something blue.
Every wedding has its traditions, and for one client, the honor—and challenge—of being the 'something blue' for the bride made for an unforgettable dress.
When Jasmine came to me with this unique request, I knew the dress had to be more than just a color; it had to be a statement! Together, we dreamed up a design that would make her feel radiant, confident, and represent the bride’s “something blue” tradition.
The fabric we decided on was a beautiful, lightweight, silk charmeuse. I chose this fabric due to it’s stunning drape and glowing finish. Choosing silk enhanced each and every design detail and truly made that blue pop.
And what’s a custom gown without a statement piece!? Let’s discuss…. the bow. Now there are several way to finish a halter neckline, and after testing a few designs in sketch form, we ultimately landed on the bow.
I recall Jasmine sending me a photo of a dress with bow strands falling dramatically down the back, nearly floor length. It was simple, elegant, and ultimately, a total head turner, so I said, let’s make it happen!
Designing this dress was such an honor. The memories of creating it, partnered with all of the memories she experienced while wearing it, are what make a custom gown so meaningful and extraordinary!
